On June 12, at the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Pandas Ya’an base, more than 300 Xiang Xiang fans from Japan, more than 20 travelers, as well as many Xiang Xiang domestic fans gathered here to celebrate her 7th birthday.
Giant panda Xiang Xiang was born on June 12, 2017 in Ueno Zoo, Tokyo, Japan. She is the daughter of the pandas “Bi Li” and “Zhen Zhen”. In February 2023, Xiang Xiang returned to China from Japan.
On the same day, the event of “Hello! China – Cozy Sichuan – Japanese Fans Reunion Tour for Xiang Xiang” was launched. It was aimed at pandas as a medium to Japanese travelers to promote the theme of “the country of heaven, cozy Sichuan, panda home, ancient Shu civilization” with brand resources and line products.
“This is the second time my mother and I have come to Sichuan to celebrate Xiang Xiang’s birthday,” said Eiko Endo, a representative of the tour group. Eiko Endo, a representative of the tour group, showed the reporter a homemade birthday card and introduced her past with Xiang Xiang in fluent Chinese. 2023 Eiko Endo organized a group of Xiang Xiang fans to come to Ya’an to celebrate Xiang Xiang’s 6th birthday. The comfortable environment provided by the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Pandas (CCRCPRC) Ya’an Base for Xiang Xiang gave Endo and other fans “both admiration and peace of mind”.
The visit to the pandas was the first stop of the tour. Next, the group of Japanese travelers will go to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Huanglong Scenic Spot, Jiuzhaigou Scenic Spot, and other cultural and tourism landmarks, to experience the unique charm of Sichuan in the field visits. The event will also include seminars and exchanges to promote Sichuan’s unique cultural and tourism resources as well as Sichuan’s policies to promote inbound tourism.
